Art Praxis is the practice of art as lived experience, a space of creation and attentive making.
Art emerges through immediate encounter – with the material, with the subject, with oneself.
In my studio in Röschenz, I create a space where this encounter becomes possible.
Here, craftsmanship and intuition merge, traditional techniques meet personal expression.
Whether in painting, sculpture, or teaching: the direct, perceptual experience stands at the center of my work.
Art Praxis was founded by Marcellus in Basel in 2001.
In 2004, the first paintings were published on the website www.marcellus-art.com
.In the summer of 2006, the entire studio was relocated to India for three years.
Out of this period, long-term artistic projects and collaborations emerged.
In 2011, part of the studio was temporarily based in South Korea.
In 2015, Art Praxis Steiner was formally established.
Today, Marcellus Steiner works from a studio in Röschenz, Switzerland, where painting, drawing, and artistic research continue to develop.
Art Praxis School
Private LessonsI teach painting, drawing, and sculpture to adults, focusing on presence and direct engagement with form, space, and the body.
Through meditative practice and careful observation, students develop spatial awareness and haptic imagination—skills that support both technical ability and personal artistic expression.
Currently, no classes are taking place for health reasons.

EinzelunterrichtIch unterrichte Erwachsene in Malerei, Zeichnung und Skulptur und lege dabei Wert auf Präsenz und die direkte Auseinandersetzung mit Form, Raum und Körper.
Durch meditative Übungen und genaue Beobachtung entwickeln Teilnehmende räumliches Bewusstsein und haptische Vorstellungskraft—Fähigkeiten, die technisches Können und persönlichen Ausdruck gleichermaßen fördern.
Derzeit findet aus gesundheitlichen Gründen kein Unterricht statt.

Life meets death in the forests
Where the dark wooded smells of death
lead to the fragrance of life
Not a life without quest
But a long season of meditation
Where many questions may be asked
and a single answer be found
for the divine spirit to prevail
beyond reason
beyond the point where a child makes toys
of the harsh stones of his existence
building a staircase for his spirit to rise
and then the moment when the likeness of a man
be painted not based on the familiar landmarks
of his physical features
upon the landscape of his face
but a defining moment of his inner self
a truthful moment
of a being in grace
